ELIJAH McCLAIN

Elijah Jovan McClain was a licensed massage therapist in Aurora, Colorado. He shared an apartment with his cousin near his work.

While still a teenager he taught himself to play violin and guitar. He was an animal lover, and in his free time, he volunteered at a local animal shelter where he was known to play violin to the animals awaiting adoption, noting that the music seemed to put distressed animals at ease.

Friends and family described him as a "spiritual seeker, pacifist, oddball, vegetarian, athlete, and peacemaker who was exceedingly gentle."

Elijah was killed by police in 2019.
