TRAYVON MARTIN

Trayvon Benjamin Martin was born on February 5, 1995 in Florida, to mother Sybrina Fulton and father Tracy Martin. He had one older brother named Jhavaris Fulton.

He was typical teenager, enjoying video games, sports, and texting with his girlfriend. His parents were eager to have him travel and explore diverse interests. Trayvon went skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, horseback riding, and had recently taken a trip to New York City, where he saw the sites and took in a Broadway show.

Trayvon had an interest in aviation, inspired by his uncle. For part of his school day, he attended the George T. Baker Aviation School, and intended to learn to fly and fix airplanes.

Trayvon was remembered by all of his teachers as a sweet and ever-respectful young man, who was mechanically inclined (hence the technical aviation interest), and very smart. He had tentatively decided to attend either the University of Miami, or Florida A&M University upon graduating high school.

Trayvon spent his 17th birthday surrounded by his family - eating a home-cooked meal followed by cake, and opening birthday presents. Among other things, he received new pairs of Levis jeans, and Adidas sneakers. He was 17 for 21 days.

Trayvon was killed by a racist "community watch patrolman" in February 2015.

"He had been so looking forward to going to his junior prom, and he had already started talking about all the senior activities in high school. He will never do any of those things.”
- Sybrina Fulton, Trayvon's mother
